Where will new loan signing Joao Felix play for Chelsea?

The Portugal international striker, Joao Felix has joined Chelsea until the end of the season to help solve the Blues’ goalscoring challenge, but he’s never been prolific in Atletico.

Chelsea’s search for a striker who is actually capable of scoring goals has become with their recent performance. In their attempt to remedy the goalscoring problem, the Blues – backed by their free-spending new ownership – have resorted to Atletico Madrid unproductive Joao Felix, a player who does not have a fixed position.

Is Potter ruining Chelsea, or are Chelsea ruining Potter?

Felix has been regularly stationed as a striker in a front two at Atletico Madrid, so technically it is a position he can play.

He might not get the chance to play in a two-man attack.

Speaking to The Athletic last year, he said: “My best position is as the second forward. Playing like a no.10, with a guy in front of me.”

For him to play as a no.10 in a 4-3-3,  Potter’s favourite Mason Mount would have to be displaced, and that seems out of the question.

Should the manager revert back to a 3-5-2 once Reece James has returned to fitness, then it will become a more attractive proposition, with Felix in a free role behind Kai Havertz.
