Transfer: Real Madrid eye Dalot after losing Cancelo bid

Real Madrid is considering signing Manchester United star Diogo Dalot after being told they have no chance of tempting Joao Cancelo away from Manchester City.

Los Blancos intends to strengthen their right-back and have been keeping tabs on the Premier League duo.

The Mirror claim the Citizens have no intention of selling Cancelo and Real will pursue a more realistic target in Dalot instead.

Erik ten Hag has handed the Portuguese a chance in the first team which he has grasped with both hands, featuring in all of United’s fixtures so far this season.

Dalot, 23, is out of contract at the end of the season but Old Trafford chiefs have the option to extend his deal by 12 months.

That may not be enough to keep him in Manchester long-term, however, with the Portugal international not giving any indication he wants to sign a multi-year extension.

The Mirror’s report suggests United could be persuaded to cash in over the summer and would demand around £35million.

Ten Hag does have another option at right-back with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 24, close to returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
