Oil Theft: Security Operative Set Seized Oil Bunkering Vessel Ablaze

Security operatives have destroyed a vessel intercepted with six hundred and fifty thousand (650,000) liters of alleged stolen crude oil in Delta State. The operative intercepted the vessel along the waterways with seven crew members on board.

According to the operatives of Tantita Security Services Limited (TSSL) owned by the contractor handling the pipeline surveillance contract, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, the vessel was loaded with suspected stolen crude and the arrested screws members were handed over to Nigerian Navy for further investigation.

The vessel has been coming in, loading, and discharging in the Port of Tema Ghana. They came again on Monday 6th October 2022 to load along the Escravos axis from the chevron line. The private security firm Tantita whom NNPC has goon in partnership got intelligence and send their official there.

The vessel was set ablaze to send a message to other perpetrators of crude oil theft that the federal government is determined to put an end to all forms of economic sabotage.
The Nigerien National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited has said that it loses four hundred and seventy thousand pounds (470 pounds ) barrels per day of crude oil amounting to seven thousand million ($700 million) dollars every month due to oil theft.
