Ogun CP assures residents of safety during election

The state police commissioner of Ogun State has met with stakeholders to ensure smooth and peaceful exercise in the state. The meeting was attended by security chiefs, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the state, and representatives of the political parties.
Residents of Ogun state have been advised to support the security agencies and other stakeholders involved in the preparation for the 2023 general election.
He noted that the police are working with stakeholders, especially with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to get the required data that will enable them to plan for the safety of the people before, during, and after the exercise.
”Five thousand and fifty-two (5052) polling units and each of the polling units would be manned by at least one police officer. I have to say this for the resident to understand the responsibilities that lie ahead of the security agencies. That is while the public or the community would have to partner with us in ensuring rancor-free elections.
On the part of the electoral body, the resident electoral commissioner wants people to collect their personal voter’s card from the commission and to keep to the rule guiding the conduct of elections.
Other participants want politicians to avoid things that will lead to the breakdown of law and order during the campaigns and after the election.
