IKONO-INI 2023: OPPOSITION IN INI LGA LINE UP BEHIND REP. EMMANUEL UKPONG-UDO
The Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, Rep. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, has received further endorsement and support ahead of the 2023 polls. Only weeks after being adopted by members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), more members of the country’s ruling party in Ini Local Government Area have queued up in support of the Lawmaker.
In a consultative meeting with 300 members of the APC executive committee at the wards and chapter levels held at Mbiabong Ikot Udofia in Ini, Rep. Ukpong-Udo thanked the people for the unprecedented synergy said the gathering was unusual and an epoch in the history of Ikono-Ini politics and appreciated Dr Godwin Udo Udo (a.k.a. Mentor) for facilitating the platform for dialogue towards charting a new course for the betterment of Ikono Ini people.
Ukpong-Udo noted that the era of seeing an opposition party as an antagonist has passed,
“Party remains a vehicle to contest elections while governance means inclusiveness and selfless service to the generality of all”.
He appreciated the endorsement by APC chieftains and encouraged all to get their PVCs and stand firm to vote out a government of impunity and imposition.
In his welcome address earlier, the APC Chapter Chairman of Ini LGA, Mr Etop Akpan, expressed his sincere thanks to Rep.Ukpong-Udo for carrying everyone along and for his superlative performance, ranging from infrastructure, human capital development and youth empowerment.
He described Rep. Ukpong-Udo as one whose aim is to promote participatory democracy.
Dr Godwin Udo Udo who hosted Rep. Ukpong-Udo, his entourage, and the gathering of about 300 APC chapter and ward executives in his country home, appreciated him for his ingenuity to consult an opposition party and pledged to reciprocate the gesture through the ballot at the appropriate time.
