Eket Senatorial District 2023: ONNA Council of Chiefs Backs Ephraim Inyang-Eyen

– Says You’re the only politician that remember us every year

The senatorial ambition of Mr. Ephraim Akparawa Inyang-Eyen, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District, got yet another boost on Friday, as the entire Council of Chiefs in ONNA LGA, threw their weight behind the ONNA born philanthropist’s aspiration to represent the 12 LGAs at the Senate in 2023.

Citing reasons for declaring their support openly for Akparawa Inyang-Eyen, the Council of Chiefs, comprising 42 villages, who convened today in ONNA, said, the decision was taken, after a review of events, developments and most especially, antecedents of all candidates that are vying for the Senatorial election in the district.

Addressing the traditional rulers, Chief Aniefiok Benson Ekim, said, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-Eyen, is the only man they know who has been magnanimous to the Chiefs and send a good number of them for medical treatment when the need arises. He added that, the Ikot Ebiere in ONNA born politician has the capacity to represent Eket Senatorial District effectively.

“I have strong conviction and greater expectations that Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen will represent us well”, he said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the conference of Village Heads, Eteidung Eziekiel Sunday Abia, said, with what they know of Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-Eyen, he was definitely going to be the next and the best Senator for the good people of Eket Senatorial District in 2023.

Hear him: “We are supporting our son Ephraim because of his track records in various offices he had held in the past. So, we can vouch for this one that he is going to make us proud because he has the capacity, capability and the loud voice to speak and bring back dividends of democracy to everybody in the Senatorial District. Because this one is not ‘chop alone’, that is why we are rallying around him.”

However, speaker after speaker at the endorsement meeting, expressed confidence that with Inyang-eyen at the Red Chambers, the welfare of the entire 12 LGAs that make up Eket Senatorial District is guaranteed.

Addressing the chiefs, the emotion-soaked Senatorial candidate, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen, lauded the council for standing up and supporting the truth. He assured them that when voted to be the senator in the forthcoming election, he will put smiles in every home, not just in ONNA, as he has been doing for over seven (7) years now, but in the entire 12 LGAs of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.

He promised to have regular Town Hall meetings with the people and ensure that they get what they want, as dividends of democracy.

Inyang-Eyen, who expressed sadness on how politics was played by some people without fear of God and brotherhood, promised to unite Onna as a strong indivisible geo-political entity in keeping with the vision of the ancestral fathers who laboured hard to ensure the unity and development of the area.

While thanking them for the support and confidence reposed in him, he assured the royal fathers of better days ahead and appealed to them to extend the same support to Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, OBA, as Governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2023.
