AKWA IBOM HOLDS FIRST STUDENTS DISCOURSE
Akwa Ibom State Students Community on Thursday, November 3, 2022, through the office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, held its maiden Students Discourse at Sheer Grace Arena, Edet Akpan Avenue Uyo.

The Discourse provided a platform for leaders, policy-makers, captains of Industries, heads of security personnel, education officials, parents, and students to consider how to transform the state’s educational system for more productivity and excellence.

In his welcome remark, the SA to Governor on Student Matters, Comr. Akwaowo Clifford stated that as we warm up to the general elections, the interaction became necessary because the students’ community constitutes more than 30% of the voting population and is represented in 75% of every home, hence the convocation of the Discourse to chat a way forward for the education sector in the state development. He thanked the State Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for sparing no resources in providing quality education for every Akwa Ibom Child.

The Keynote Speaker and Gubernatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Pst. Umo Eno beamed the light on his plans for state development and particularly educational advancement, student welfare, and job creation as enunciated in the Arise Agenda.

Pastor Umo Eno fielded questions from the Students who he described as the building blocks for the future. He expressed his satisfaction with the unprecedented transformation from where students only throw cheers to they seek to engage leaders on their blueprint to lead the state on the path of success and sustainable growth.

While the Permanent Secretary, of Akwa Ibom State Government House, Dr. Nathaniel Adiakpan, spoke on the Importance of Choice, the Registrar of Akwa Ibom State University, Dr. Mrs. Ebi Eno Ibanga, lectured on the place of mentorship, self-discipline, and the right attitude which she said will enable them to assimilate the various developmental programmes and projects of the state administration in the education sector.

Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs, Sir. Raphael Edem spoke on – the role of public speaking and effective communication. According to him, effective communication skill has become the most sort after soft skill in the labour market and even in leadership hence its importance in the life of man.

Goodwill messages were also received from the Wife of the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Fumi Idongesit Nkanga, Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunye Durosinmi, Commissioner of Works & Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, President, Female Students Association, Comr. Queenaline Augustine and National Financial Secretary, NANS, Comr. Godwin Ibiangake Asuquo.

The Event also had the Deputy Director General of Umo Eno/Akon Eyakeyi Campaign Organization, Prince Godwin Ntukudeh, Secretary of Campaigns, Prince Enobong Uwah, Member Representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Otobong Bob, Commissioner of Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, Local Government Chairmen, Candidates of the PDP at various levels, Chairmen of Boards and Commissions, Heads of Parastatal and Technical Committee, Political Stakeholders, Members of the Academia, Special Assistants to Governors, Students Leaders and many others.

However, satisfied with the blueprint of Pastor Umo Eno, moved by his interest and demonstrated regard for the students’ community, bound by his promise and social contract to consolidate on the gains of the past while building a more robust future, the Students’ community overwhelmingly pledged their unwavering support to the Gubernatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, and other candidates of the PDP, come 2023.
