2023: REP. UKPONG-UDO WINS SUPPORT OF VILLAGE HEADS AND YOUTHS IN IKONO
… receives endorsement from Village Youths Presidents

Rep. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, the incumbent Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency at the National Assembly and the YPP standard flag-bearer for Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency seat in 2023, today won the support of Village Heads in Ikono Local Government Area while also being unanimously endorsed by the youths of the area.

This welcome development took place today when the lawmaker officially consulted with the Village heads in Ikono Local Government Area to disclose his intention to seek re-election to office. Addressing the elders, Rep. Ukpong-Udo eulogized them for honouring his invitation despite the short notice and appreciated them for maintaining orderliness and peaceful co-existence in their different domains. He narrated that he left his former party due to conditions that were unfavourable to the future generations of Ikono/Ini people and assured them that his personal interest can never supersede that of the people.

Responding on behalf of the Village heads, Etteidung Isong Obot Akpaquat, lauded Ukpong-Udo for affecting lives through human capacity building, youths empowerment, facilitation of employment both in private and government sectors and prayed for God’s countenance to shine on him in order for him to gain more acceptability and conquer his rivals in Ikono/Ini 2023 race.

Rep. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, recognizing the place of youth in society, also consulted with Village Youths Presidents. He charged the youth to be proactive in measures that will ensure a safe society and promote peaceful co-existence. He made reference to some of his youth-centre programmes, including the large percentage of youths amongst his recently announced appointments, stressing that the future belongs to the youths hence his efforts to prepare our youths to take over leadership positions.

Comr. Godwin Matthew Joseph, the Village Youth President of Ikot Eduek-Itak, who spoke on behalf of the youth Presidents poured accolades on Rep. He however appreciated the lawmaker for recognizing the youths structure with numerous appointment, empowerment, employment and business grants, adding that the Central Youths President Forum in their resolution had unanimously passed a vote of confidence and consequently endorse the second term ambition of Rep. Ukpong-Udo.
